The last anatolian nomads
Until the early 19th century there were hundreds of thousands of nomads in Anatolia, the Sarıkeçili Yoruks, but only about 150 families remain. They migrate between the colder climes of Konya in summer and the milder climes of Mersin in winter, a journey they have been making for some 1,000 years. However, due to a sharp increase in disputes between nomads and rural communities, they do not expect their way of life to last long enough to be passed on to the next generation.
